Most businesses will require some form of registration, licensing
permits or other types of notification. Business operators must seek
these in addition to Planning Scheme approval.
Start by asking: “is my business covered by legislation that
requires a licence or permit or am I proposing an activity on Council
land, road reserve or park etc.” If so, you must apply for and obtain
this licence/permit before you operate. To reduce the compliance burden
and cost for business, the Sunshine Coast Councils have commenced the
process of standardising information and requirements relating to the
following permits, licences, approvals and registrations:
- Advertising signs
- Environmentally relevant activities
(Mechanics, workshops and manufacturers)
- Flammable & combustible liquids
(e.g. Service Stations and depots)
- Food premises - fixed (e.g. shops) mobile (e.g. vehicle)
and temporary (e.g. stall)
- Personal appearance
(e.g. tattooist, body piercing, hairdressing & beauty therapy)
- Commercial Accommodation
(Backpackers accommodation and hostels)
- Entertainment venues & events
- Caravan parks & camping grounds
- Commercial swimming pools
- Roadside vending
- Footpath dining
- Filming.
