A home-based business is any business that is operated by the residents of a residential or rural property. It is generally quiet, clean and does not create increased traffic flow.
To be acceptable to Council, the primary purpose of the premises
must remain residential and the business activity must not impact on
the community, neighbours and the general amenity of the area by excessive noise, dust or smoke, signage, problems with property access or traffic etc.
Planning Codes have been written to ensure that home-based business does not have a detrimental impact on the local area, has adequate waste collection, parking and vehicle manoeuvring and is of a scale that is not visually intrusive.
